Ultimate Power

How can you deny this child anything when she looks at you like this? As I was showing Bill these pictures I said, we are in trouble- I'd give her my credit card and car keys in a heartbeat!

Jackson Trip

This weekend we took our longest road trip yet... to Jackson. Ryan did FABULOUS! She was in the car for a 5 hour trip and just blew us away with her amazing behavior. She slept 3 hours on the way there and the entire way back, I know I will be paying for that tonight- but it was nice for Bill and I to have 5 hours of conversation time with just the two of us.

My parents came to Jackson this weekend too and we celebrated me and my dad's birthday, mother's day, and gave Kimmer a surprise baby shower for Jack (that was the most fun)! Kate was absolutely adorable!
Best moment of the weekend for Kate: (All of this was being said while she was sitting on top of Kramer and petting Radly beside her)
Kate: "I want to ride Kramer."
Me: "You can ride him if you want, but he is trying to sleep."
Kate: "I am going to ride Kramer and then Ryan can ride Radly when she gets bigger."
Me: "That's right Kate she can ride him when she gets bigger."
Kate: "Bigger like Kate!"
Me: "Bigger like Kate!"

She is just too dang cute. Enjoy the pics

Reunited & It Feels So Good

My little stray doggy was reunited with his owner. I called the Humane Soceity on Tuesday afternoon to report the little guy missing. After I hung up I was contacted immediately by a girl who lives in my neighborhood. Apparently the little baby had been out for a day before I found him. He busted through the fence and took off. She was so grateful and of course I cried when I gave him back to her becuase I love happy endings. I just want to point out I am 7 for 7 in picking up stray dogs and finding them a home! I wish I could get paid for doing that all day!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Yesterday was my 25th birthday and it was the best one I've ever had! It was so great to wake up to my little girl smiling at me. That's right, she is smiling like crazy now. When she wakes up she looks at us and smiles. She smiles when we talk to her, she smiles when Bill gets home from work, she smiles all the time!!! After Bill got home, we continued our tradition and went to Provinos for dinner. Ryan was amazing, she slept the whole time and let us have a nice date. Once we got home it was present time. Of course Bill had to do something wildly romantic and surprising, so earlier in the day he told me not to expect anything because he has been so busy. I told him I really did not care, I just wanted to go to dinner with him and Ryan. Well, he played me for a fool because this is what he got me...

It is an amazing ring with Ryan's birthstone, an aquamarine stone. I love it so much. Our plan is to give it to Ryan on her 18th birthday or for graduation- you know some big milestone in her life.
So I told Bill he has turned me into a gypsy with all of the rings that he's given me. I mean I am not complaining about getting these rings, I am in love with them! Here are all of the rings Bill has given me in our relationship- I do not wear them like this; I just did it for pictorial purposes...

Pointer finger ring- Our first Christmas together. Bill sent me on a scavenger hunt to find it!
Middle finger- 25th birthday present. Ryan's aquamarine birthstone.
Ring Finger- Of course my engagement and wedding ring- which still blow my mind that I own them.
Pinkie- This is my Grandma Shirley's engagement ring. G.Shirley gave me the setting this summer. Well Bill stole it from me, and put a new diamond in it and it was my one year wedding anniversary present. he also gave me this ring the day we found out we were pregnant.
I love how my hands are a timeline of our relationship. Every time I look at my hands I just have to smile because there are so many memories there!

Couple of Updates

I had a hard time coming up with a title for this posting because so much is happening in Ryan's little, changing world. First, she is smiling!! They are the most precious smiles in the world. I am not talking about the poop smile, I saw that one day two of her life. I am talking about a genuine smile. My most memorable one was when Bill was tickling her this morning and she started kicking her feet and smiling, it was hilarious. I will say it is tough to capture a smile on camera, but I tried.

Secondly, both Bill and I have been caught napping with Ryan this weekend. Mine was during her early morning nap, which most people still call nighttime sleep! Bill's is still in progress. This is what I found when I got out of the shower(his assignment was to feed her, his results - sleep). I mean look at this picture and try to tell me she is not his daughter. They look like twins here!
Now she does not look like me in our napping picture, but it is still equally cute.

Third, we had some more visitors come over last night and see precious Ryan. Bill's lab buddies Sarah and Andy came over and ohh and ahhed over her all night. Andy ended up getting her to sleep around 11- oh I was already passed out asleep in my bed by this point! I am such a good host!

Lastly, we have a new visitor in our house. A precious purebred dachshund doggy. I went outside this morning to put something in the trash can and this baby was in our driveway. I guess the dogs come to me now instead of me driving around and picking them up:)

So if anyone knows of someone who wants an adorable dog. He really is so well behaved. He has just been outside all day, he has eaten two bowls of food because he is very very skinny. However, he follows me around everytime I go outside, he knows how to sit and stay. He gets along great with our dogs. I would take him to the Human Society but I am going to make flyers and post them around my neighborhood first. I cannot fathom this precious baby being put to sleep and I fear that he might if I take him there. He just needs a good home with people willing to feed feed feed him. I really cannot stress how adorable he is- so anyways let me know if you are interested.

Love it

I love watching Bill with Ryan. He is just so blown away by her. Whenver he comes home he just holds her all night. I tell him he can put her down, but I mean who wants to put down our precious chunk!

A Weekend of Firsts

I will have to admit, I was really excited to get back to my laptop and blog about our extremely fun weekend. The title to this post has many folds to it, so I will begin with our FIRST success of the weekend. RYAN SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!!!! On Thursday and Friday night Ryan slept from 11-7, it was absolutely amazing. Of course I woke up at 2:30 freaking out wondering if Bill had fed her or if she was breathing, but low and behold there she was as happy as she could be! Last week was the first week I really had her on a schedule and I guess it worked. Well this was a short lived victory because we went home to Huntsville, which leads to our second FIRST- Ryan's first road trip. As many of you with children know, when you travel and go home schedules are out the window. As soon as she gets to sleep, someone new wants to hold her, as soon as she wants to lay down and play, someone wants to sing her to sleep. I am very guilty of this too with my niece, but this was definitely how it went with Ryan this weekend. So Saturday night she woke up once around 4- she still slept for 4 and a half hours, but she wasn't quite on schedule. We will work on getting back on track this week!

Saturday was great! Ryan got to meet a lot of new family members and she got to see all of her grandparents. She was an angel the whole day too. Pa (my dad) watched her Saturday morning while Bill and I went on our FIRST run since she was born. We ran a little over 2 miles, very exciting to get back out there again.

Next, Ryan was dedicated at Trinity Baptist Church on Easter Sunday- her FIRST dedication. This was Bill's church growing up and the same church where we were married. It was so special and it meant so much to us to see our little girl dedicate herself to a Christian life. She was perfect the whole church service as well. Bill held her the whole time and she just starred at him so intently until she finally fell asleep. There was a ton of music at the Easter service and Ryan absolutely loved it! Ryan's outfit was pretty amazing too. She wore the same christning gown that my dad wore 55 years ago. All of his sisters have worn it, my sister and I have worn it, and my niece and little cousins have all worn it as well. The gown is still gorgeous and white and it means so much to me that Ryan was able to wear it for her special day!

Lastly, Ryan had her FIRST Easter. She looked so precious in her Easter dress that Jo Jo made her. She was loved on by all of her family at my parent's house for Easter dinner and was just a doll to everyone. Most importantly, she did not have any blow outs while we were there. She has had some pretty impressive diapers lately, but she saved them all for mommy and daddy when we got back to Auburn.

All in all, our first roadtrip was a huge success. We got home around 11:30 last night and Bill let his girls sleep the whole way home while he drove through the rain! I hope everyone's Easter weekend was amazing as ours!

Time with Mommy

I just cannot help it, I do not want to put her down. Last night I fell asleep like this with Ryan

and apparently she fell off my chest at some point and rolled onto the couch. Definitely one of my biggest fears!! Luckily Bill was right there to pick her up and she never skipped a beat of sleep.
Things are going great around here. We are just loving every moment with this little butter bean. On that note, I do not know why I am calling her a butter bean (actually I do, I blame it all on my sister, she always comes up with crazy/creative names for her dog and then I somehow pick them up). Well, the other day Bill came home from lunch right when Ryan was waking up and I said, "Well hello my little butter bean!" This is a common phrase with her. Bill quickly said, "Do you ever call her Ryan? I do not want her thinking her name is butter bean!" So I have made it a point to start calling her Ryan now, but secretly she is still my little butter:)

We are also trying to do more tummy time a day, and well let's just say Ryan is not a fan. I was told by my cousin to always talk to babies, read them books, and have a lot of tummy time. So, I am taking care of the first two, but the third tends to lack- because she hates it! See below:

I know some of you may be saying, what in the world is that child wearing? Well, I have not bathed Ran in a while, so it was time for a bath. I have been bathing with her, which has been so much fun; but this morning I woke up with a 100 fever, so I opted to just put her in her own tub. Anyways, she LOVES the sound of the running water. I mean this child is part fish, she wants to go under water, she loves swimming around- it's hilarious. So during her bath today the water all of the sudden got cold and it would not get warm again- all of this happened right when I was shapmpooing her hair. So of course, mommy panicked because I could totally tell she was cold. So after pouring soap water in her eyes and mouth, I finally finished up. When all was said and done, I could not put her in normal clothes, I had to put her in a nighty! SO, the candy cane outfit is her nighty- not something you will find her in everyday!

Back to Church

Bill and I decided last week that we would be ready to take Ryan to church this weekend. We kept talking about how excited we were to bring her to meet everyone. Well, we woke up this morning to rain rain and more rain (which is no surprise in Auburn lately). We were determined to go to church, despite the weather, so Bill and I got ready, but Ryan decided to sleep until 9:45, and for those of you who have children you would agree with us- why wake her? She is sleeping a little over 4 hours at a time at night and we did not want to disrupt this pattern.
Anwyays, once she did wake up Bill was ready so he was on Ryan duty. Ryan duty really meant Ryan dooties!!! Bill went to change her diaper after she ate and she seriously has projectile poo poos. It almost covered her entire changing pad. So this again postponed our leaving time. Finally, the poop situation was under control and our precious girl was ready to go. Here are the results...

4 Weeks!!!

I cannot believe our little girl is 4 weeks old today. She has had such a busy day, but a great one. We had her first shopping trip to Target. The best part is that Bill got to come too. His meetings were cancelled for the second part of the day, so he was able to spend the afternoon with us. After Target, Ashley and Blakely came over to bring us another fabulous dinner. Our bible study class is just amazing! After they left we headed to Montgomery to watch Bill's first playoff game. So we had our first BIG outing to another city and we survived. She did such a great job and Bill won his game 13-2. Enjoy the pics:
